Hi and welcome to Laughing with CancerElvis at KATG

First off I would like to tell you a little about myself and why I have a podcast called Laughing with Cancer.  My name is Rick Ochoa but a lot of people know me as Elvisrico. I’m a father, a grandfather, an Elvis impersonator, and a cancer survivor.  My cancer is not gone but I’m surviving with it. I was diagnosed with Leukemia on Valentines Day 2003 ( quite the “I love you gift” ).  I was diagnosed with CLL (chronic lymphocytic leukemia) a slower progressing cancer, but progressing nonetheless.  Ever since that day my life has been a roller coaster ride of emotion and confusion (from being positive, to thoughts of suicide).  One of the things that has helped me is laughter and a podcast called Keith and the Girl.

It’s been hard to stay positive and get back on track, and sometimes I find myself taking 2 steps forward and 1 step back, but I push forward and keep going.  Laughter is one of the tools I use to help me get through the day.  I’m hoping my podcast Laughing with Cancer and website will help others.

My podcast “Laughing with Cancer” deals with cancer, chronic illness, health tips, eating habits (diet) and positive thinking through laughter and just life all around.  I would like to give a disclaimer, saying I’m not a doctor, psychiatrist, physical therapist, nutritionist or personal trainer.  I’m just a guy with cancer trying to stay as healthy and positive as possible and enjoy life the best I can.  So please join me as we get to know one another and travel down this path called life, and remember my friends… If you’re  not laughing you’re just letting life pass you by.

#livecancershow  Interview with Elvisrico

  1. I recently discovered your podcast while hearing your feature on The Feed. I recently did an episode with actress @ellena_weber about acting, but we also touched on her battle with cancer, MS, depression and so much more. My podcast is called the Avert Your Eyes Podcast:

I love the idea you have of using laughter. As a local comedian and improvisor. Keep up the good work and the good fight!

  2. Rick….you look awesome my friend and have such an amazing strong spirit. Kick ass…..Unfortunately I’ll be using this info as my mom was just diagnosed with bladder cancer.

  3. Love your podcast and keep up the positive laughter…My mother is a stage four cancer survivor. I say this, the cancer is still in her system and seems she battles the cancer when it decides to pop up. The last one was breast cancer and that was four years ago. The sides effects from chemo will last her a life time, however, her positive attitude is what is so amazing. Would love to tell you her story…

    1. I’m so glad you like the podcast Lorna and I would love to here your moms story. I’m hoping this podcast is something that will help a lot of people going through any kind of chronic illness. You, your mom and family will be in my thoughts and I hope only the best for you all. I look forward to hearing from you again..
      Much love Elvisrico
